Where to Buy a Video Editing Laptop or PC & How Much It Costs
Hey, what’s up guys! Today, I’m going to talk about where to buy a video editing laptop or PC and how much it costs.
I’ve already made a video on what makes a good video editing laptop or PC, which you can check out [here]. But today, I’ll focus on five key things to consider when buying one.
Five Must-Have Features for a Video Editing Laptop/PC
When purchasing a video editing laptop or PC, make sure it includes the following:
- RAM – At least 8GB of RAM.
- Operating System – Minimum Windows 7 (64-bit), macOS, or Linux.
- Graphics Card (GPU) – At least 2GB of VRAM.
- Storage – At least 256GB of storage (SSD recommended for better performance).
- Processor (CPU) – Minimum Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5.
These are the basic specifications needed for smooth video editing. It doesn’t matter which brand you choose, as long as your system meets these requirements.
Where to Buy a Video Editing Laptop or PC in South Africa
There are several places to buy a good video editing laptop or PC:
✅ Evetech (Centurion & Online)
✅ Incredible Connection (Expensive, so not highly recommended)
✅ Makro
✅ Game
✅ Matrix Warehouse
✅ Other computer stores or video camera retailers
When shopping, bring the specifications list and ensure the PC or laptop meets the minimum requirements.
How Much Does a Video Editing Laptop or PC Cost?
💰 The cheapest decent video editing laptop or PC starts at around R10,000 – R8,000.
- You cannot buy a good video editing system for R2,000 – R3,000. I’ve tried it, and it simply does not work.
- Video editing is very processor-intensive, so you need to invest in a powerful machine.
- Higher-end systems can cost up to R50,000+, but you don’t need to go that high unless you’re working on professional, high-resolution projects.
Final Thoughts & Recommendations
When you’re ready to buy, check off the five essential features I mentioned:
✔️ 8GB RAM or more
✔️ At least 256GB SSD/HDD storage
✔️ Windows 7 (64-bit) or macOS/Linux
✔️ 2GB dedicated graphics card
✔️ Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 CPU
💡 The better the specs, the better the performance! But, as specs increase, so does the price.
If you have any questions, drop them in the comments below. If you’d like a detailed breakdown of what each spec means (RAM, CPU, GPU, etc.), check out my previous video.
